I was taught: at the finish of a bow stance in this case the torso should be balanced between the feet with 70% of the weight forward and 30% on the back foot and the tailbone drawn towards the navel
…..maybe only for particular postures?

Hi Matthew -
What you describe applies to some Yang styles. But the above photo is of a Wu style posture.
Different styles have different purposes, so they developed different models of how to use the body to accomplish those purposes.
So it’s not so much as “for particular postures” as you said. It’s more like “for particular purposes.”
